Co-curators
Cristina Chiappini and Alexandra Sankova
Venue
Red October, Bersenevskiy pereylok 2, building 1
Second floor, Chocolate Manufacture

The event is the first of the 2011 exchange programme Italy and Russia for graphic design, initiated by AIAP Lazio - Italian Association of Communication Design and the Association of Poster Designers of Moscow.

The event is part of the official program of the Year of Russian Language and Culture in the year of Italy and Italian culture and language in Russia – 2011.

The exhibition gathers a selection of posters of the most successful and innovative contemporary Italian graphic designers dedicated to social and cultural issues. The Red October gallery hosts several generations of established and emerging Italian communication designers and agencies.

The show features posters for a variety of contexts: institutions, exhibitions, public events, social campaigns, social happenings, political dissent movements, and self-generated research.

Within the exhibition, a special section is dedicated to the international work of Fabrica, the Benetton Research Centre. The posters of the centre, commissioned by UNWHO, UNICEF, the World Bank and others, address the Earth's most urgent social challenges.

The designs exposed in the show are a mirror of contemporary Italian visual language. The selection includes from the most radical and minimalist in form to the conceptually sophisticated and non-conventional, from the ironic to the dissenting.

Spaghetti Grafica 2 Inaugurazione 25 novembre 2009 ore 18.30

Toys, T-Shirts, Prints, Zines and Other Stuff
Artists, designers and illustrators are doing it for themselves! Tough times often lead to greater creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Where once designers might have produced a set of postcards to promote themselves or simply for fun, demand for individual design has led to an
explosion of quirky, covetable products for sale via the Internet. Self-initiated projects, such as T-shirts or button designs, are fast becoming businesses in themselves. This book showcases more than 500 of the coolest and most exciting graphic products by over 90 practitioners from
around the world, including: books, magazines and zines; toys, posters, prints and canvases; fonts and typographic 3D products; clothing and accessories.
